kidnapped collection

My collection of paintings is based on the kidnapping of my father. All depicting a tough moment in my life. The expositions use dark tones to explore my tortured past. In contrast, the bright colors represent the hope of a new life. Each painting begins with a wide variety of sketching and doodling. Until finally finding a way to properly portray my paintings. Hard but indulging, when finding the right ways to illustrate.

Mood board for garment

paper garment

A fish, was the first thing i thought of when i made this garment. a fishes scales are like his skin that help him protect his insides. the tale helps him swim away from danger.
the blue scales are made out of tiny blue "petal" form papers that I hand cut from drawing paper and dipped in blue paint. the fish tale is made from special lace looking paper.

book cover

I chose to make this book cover with the silhouette of a girl looking for her father. Feeling lost and empty attempting to help her family.
To make this poster board I drew a picture of the silhouette of a girl and passed it to illustrator where i added a photo of my father and a view that me and him recently took a picture with in the original photo.

Katra

Katra is an innovative design used for people who are in trouble and want to get in to contact with someone immediately, by pressing a silver button located in the top golden box it automatically contacts the police and an emergency contact. while at the same time locating your location.
In the beginning process we were going to choose an undergarment that could be used next to your heart, but a bracelet seem to be more useful for all genders and ages. This product will be made from gold and silver boxes.

Lady in the Tube (event drawing)

The lady in the tube represents my family and I holding on to each other. This drawing was inspired by a statue that is located in the middle of the street. what captivated me to take this picture was the fact that she looked peaceful even in the middle of all that commotion. The incorporation of the dark and bright colors are supposed to bring a mood of intensity. used acrylic on 18x24 illustration board.

Ulyana sergeenko

this garment designed by Ulyana Sergeenko for her fall 2012 couture collection it's black and lace with a structural skirt, reveals the legs and is see thru. I really love how this garment tries to portray a more edgier version of her country.

how my garment was made

so to make this garment i first had to choose a design, a shape form and a pattern. my starting design was going to include a skirt but due to time i went for only a top. since its all made out of paper i had to really think of papers that are resistant and can also be, in a way, flexible. i choose newsprint for the base of the shirt because i could move it around, to tape all that newsprint together i had to get artist tape. for the fish scale area i covered first with blue paint and glue-guned all these little scales which i traced, cut and hand-dipped in paint. For the peplum part, the frilly part of the shirt, i went to go buy this special lace looking paper which i glued together with newsprint paper. i added the lit curves to add that lift. for the very top, i traced the outline with tracing paper, and cut out drawing paper with those shapes. i painted white and with my sumi ink, made little details sort of like a floral pattern.

my overall design

my design was intended to be made in fish form, because the blue scales represent the protection for the skin and the heart. The peplum effect is the fins that help the fish run or "swim" from danger. i personally think the strongest part of my design would be the blue scales and the weakest would be the top where if i could go back i would maybe make them a different color and a lot more sleaker and clean. here are some pictures taken by my classmate: Nuria Rodriguez, and helped by: Alexia Lachica

Audrey Hepburn

if i had to have an impossible conversation would be with Audrey Hepburn, because i find her chic and very modern. i love the fact that she would dress up very classy but sort of made her look sexy which is what i think, personally, almost every woman strives for. i would ask her if she would have still been a actress or would have changed jobs. oh i would also like to mention to her that my mom looked like her when she was young....
